The NHS provides financial assistance towards the cost of glasses for some groups of patients. Free eye testing is available for all.

If you fit any of the following categories, you should ask staff about this assistance, which may include an NHS optical voucher:

• you are under 16 or under 19 and still in full time education
• you or your partner are receiving income support, job seekers allowance, tax credit, tax credit NHS exemption certificate, NHS HC2 or HC3 certificates
• you are registered blind or partially sighted or have a complex prescription requirement
